Solid Oak Board or Engineered?

The traditional hardwood floor is a solid board or block, cut from a single piece of your chosen hardwood. Solid wooden floors are typically nailed to joists, or overlaid on to the existing floorboards. In many cases this is a good choice, offering strength, durability and the feel of the genuine article.

However in some situations the use of an engineered board is the better option. This is because these floors have a multi layer construction making them more stable in environments with varying climate conditions. Engineered floors can be glued directly to the subfloor or in some cases laid as a floating floor.

Parquet:

Parquet blocks can be laid in limitless combinations and patterns. Contrasting timbers can be used to create features and accents strips. Glued directly to the prepared base, the blocks are normally installed unfinished, to allow for final sanding and finishing on site.
