We have one of the widest ranges of hardwood flooring in Bath, Bristol and the South West. Using our design service and highly skilled fitters, we are able to offer a comprehensive range of hardwood flooring, in solid or engineered wood; Oak, Beech, Ash, Maple, American Walnut, Birch, Merbau and Bamboo. We are able to design your floor to include borders and motifs and can design and fit many styles of parquet.
Solid wood is installed with an expansion space around the edge, usually covered when skirting boards are fitted at a later date. It is usually nailed to joists or a wooden subfloor and can be glued down in certain conditions.
Solid wooden floors are not always suitable for every job, for example they are not suitable for use below grade level or with underfloor heating. Wood is a natural product. Solid wood will expand and contract with the changing seasons meaning small gaps in the boards are sometimes visible. This is part of the character of a natural wooden floor and is not considered a fault.
Engineered floors, consist of a multi layer construction.
The top surface of the floor is hardwood and can vary in thickness from one to six mm. Engineered boards are more stable than solid, this allows them to be used in a wider range of applications. Engineered boards can be installed by gluing to a suitable sub floor and in some cases by nailing or floating.
Both solid and engineered boards are available prefinished with a lacquer or oil. We can also use an unfinished board, allowing us the flexibility to apply a range of stains and finishes on site.
