Hardwood Floors

We have one of the widest ranges of hardwood flooring in the South West. With our highly skilled fitters and wide range of products, we are able to offer a comprehensive range of hard wood flooring. We offer over 100 choices of hardwood; Oak beech, ash, maple, engineered, solid and multi layer boards, plus laminates, veneers and bamboo. We can supply solid planks, floating floors, engineered boards, laminates and parquet.

Solid wood is installed with an expansion space around the edge, usually covered when skirting boards are fitted at a later date. It is nailed to joists or a wooden subfloor.

Floating floors, consist of a multi layer construction. The hardwood top surface is attached to a backing either in the form of strips, or in a plank. The panels are then glued, tongue in groove, to each other, but not to the subfloor, Floating floors require an expansion space to be left around the edge of the room, which can be covered by fitting new skirting boards, or fixing a beading to the existing skirting. Floating floors are the easiest to install, and are popular with DIY enthusiasts. Laminate floors are installed in the same way, but the top surface is not real wood but melamine.

Engineered boards, are made from layers of hardwood, laid with the grain running in different directions. This construction allows for the wood to be fully glued to a wooden or concrete subfloor without the need for an expansion space.
